April was a month of firsts…

Our New Clinic and Operating Complex - May 2025

Among the desperate and heartbreaking arrival stories, there is also positive news to share.

Today I am incredibly grateful to share that our New Clinic and Operating Room is finally up and running, fully operational - aside from some equipment still to be delivered and of course, the usual ironing out the 'wrinkles' that show up as you go along in a new place.

Our vets are walking distances every day to see patients and then to going back to Villa Kitty where all our residents are, and where the hospital and nursery buildings are. I have clocked up over four kilometres every day this week, just here inside Villa Kitty as we work out how to do everything more efficiently.

Since January 1st, Villa Kitty has received 533 cats and kittens. Those who were in need of  X-Rays and blood tests were taken to Sunset Vet so our bills keep rising by the day.

This, together with a rampant feline parvovirus (aka Panleukopenia) on the island, put us way above our capacity both physically and financially.

But your support never wavered. Because of your kindness and generosity, we were able to bring the New Clinic and Operating Room to life and I couldn’t be more grateful.

Just a few days ago we had our very first arrivals in the new consult room. Young kittens, who would have died on the streets if it hadn’t been for the compassion of two rescuers.

We also had our first operations in the new operating room. Dr Eko performed sterilisations in our new operating room, changing the lives of many Bali cats forever. This day couldn’t have come sooner! Thank you to all those who donated precious funds to make this dream a reality.

April has been a month with staggering arrivals - over 120! The good news is that we vaccinated 607 cats and kittens and sterilised 591 since January 1st.

We are still barely floating above the surface with vaccinations, and we are now experiencing the worst panleukopenia outbreak at Villa Kitty in our history. We have had so many cats and kittens testing positive on arrival or in their incubation period when they come to us.

Due to the kindness of a local expat family, in fact, the son of the family, who donated the funds for Villa Kitty to purchase a new machine that can test for the panleukopenia virus and give a reading if the kitten is in the incubation period. This will help us save lives.

However, right NOW we are at a breaking point. This is nothing like we've seen before.

Your support is a lifeline for Bali’s cats and kittens. Only with your help can we continue to provide lifesaving care to vulnerable cats and kittens in need.

Please if you can will you make a small donation to keep us going? We must be vaccinating the herd!

Thank you,
